Functions And Objectives Of Indonesian Education From The Perspective Of Ki Hadjar Dewantara

This research aims to: (1) analyze the functions and goals of Indonesian education from Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s perspective; (2) analyze what are the supporting and inhibiting factors for the function and goals of Indonesian education in the perspective of Ki Hadjar Dewantara. The method of this research islibrary research, while the nature of this research is in the descriptive qualitative category by reading, reviewing and analyzing various existing literature, in the form of books, magazines, articles, journals, theses, dissertations, research reports, and others. These techniques are used to obtain information that is relevant to the research topic being carried out. The steps are: (1) formulating a research topic; (2) create a research framework; (3) search for literature; (4) reading and reviewing literature; (4) analyzing the literature. The results of this research show that first, Ki Hadjar Dewantara was one of the pioneers in laying the foundations, functions and goals of education in Indonesia. The functions and goals of Indonesian education as outlined in Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s thoughts have inspired the educational milestones of the past, present and future. Second, factors supporting the function and goals of education in Indonesia, namely: (a) independence; (b) child-centered education; (c) implementation of the nurturing system; (d) use of nature and culture. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors for the function and goals of education in Indonesia are: (a) rigid curriculum; (b) limited infrastructure; (c) uneven teacher quality; (d) lack of community participation.
